In a mind-blowing revelation, one of the biggest retailers in the country today stunned the retail world with a key finding from its research wing – based on a six month in-store study that was conducted across 300 retail locations using bleeding edge 3D sensors that could track every single customer movement in the store, the retailer announced that big data analysis of such collected data provided the insight that customers picked up the cheapest item on the rack 90 percent of the time.

“What blew us away was what the micro sensors, placed on the racks revealed about the customer told us- with eye tracking technology, the sensors clearly showed that their eyes moved away to the cheapest prices item on the rack, and stayed there for a while before that item got picked up and placed in their shopping cart” the head of the research team told SVChronicle. This is the second big insight from such research, the first one was equally stunning.
