Amazon Renames ‘Earnings Call’ To ‘Revenue Call’
Amazon today became the first company in the history of corporate America to hit half-a trillion dollars in annual revenue. “We attribute this success to the vision and execution of our growth-first strategy” said Jeff Bezos, on the earnings call. He mentioned that Amazon’s recent entry to four more ‘low-margin’ verticals had resulted in such tremendous growth. “We have a long-term vision for each segment of our business” he added. He declined to comment on a question from an investor on what exactly his definition of ‘long term’ was, since he has been using that term for more than two decades now.
Jeff Bezos also mentioned that the term ‘Earnings call’ was misleading, and suggested that the event be renamed to ‘Revenue call’ to better reflect the proceedings. Meantime, analysts covering AMZN have already redefined all financial ratios eliminating the term Profit from all their ratios and reports. SVChronicle has also learnt that Amazon would recruit 20,000 people to expand its warehouses in North America.
